HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY to VINTAGE NEST!

It's so hard to believe that we've been open for one year already.  Where does the time go?  I can honestly say that I have never been happier with the way things have turned out at the shop.  I have met so many wonderful new customers over the months and have gotten to know so many fabulous people.

It's not to say there hasn't been a learning curve in all of this.  Mistakes have been made but certainly learned from. I never imagined how much time I would spend working on all things NEST.  It's the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thing I think about when I drift off to sleep.  My kids rank up there too but I consider the NEST one of babies as well.

Anyhoo, in celebration of Vintage Nest turning ONE I am putting the shop on sale.  Take 20% off the entire store through Sunday.  On Thursday there will also be a chance to win a $25.00 gift certificate.

Please stop in if you can.  I would love to see you!

It Never Disappoints

Once again Junk Bonanza wowed me over! The 6.5 hour drive each way was once again well worth it.  When my girlfriend and I arrived at 7:30am to get in line for Early Bird shopping I was stunned to find hundreds in line before us.  The excitement just continues to build every minute you wait in line.  The couple in line in front of us came all the way from Santa Barbara to shop Junk Bonanza.  They own a store called Whimsy and they were hoping to connect with some vendors.
As soon as 8:00am hit the crowds converged.  Here is a picture of the entrance to JB.

The displays were outstanding. I wanted to take lots of pictures to show you but it was so crazy crowded that I couldn't get any decent pictures without the crowds covering the displays.  By the time we worked our way towards the back the SOLD signs were everywhere. I guess next time I will get in line at 6am!
I still managed to find some fantastic pieces for the shop and for myself.  Some great lamps, locker baskets, signs and re-purposed jewelry made it back to the shop on Friday.
Here's a few more pictures.

The table with the clock stencil will be in the shop this week.

There will be a Spring Junk Bonanza in 2013 - I can't wait!

JUNK BONANZA READY OR NOT!

I am so excited to be heading to Junk Bonanza next week I can hardly contain myself.  I went back in 2010 and found it to be the best venue ever for finding the coolest JUNK and the neatest REPURPOSED pieces ever.  I wasn't able to go last year due to family commitments so my excitement has been building for the last 23 months.  Hope to find some awesome items to bring back to the shop and some pieces that I have been looking for, for my home.

If you have never been you must add it to your BUCKET LIST.  I hear they may be adding a spring show in 2013.

You don't want to miss the grand opening of my dear friend Mark's new shop ROOM 363 on August 16th.
I stopped by last week to see how the shop was coming along and I was completely mesmerized by his creativity. He has a great mix of painted and upholstered furniture, industrial, home accents, jewelry and clothing.  Something for everyone!  It's on my calendar - so make sure it's on yours!

We head to Arizona several times a year and a must stop for me is The Willows Home and Garden store. Their displays are awe inspiring and I always manage to find a few things for myself.

Welcome to the Vintage Nest

Vintage Nest began with my passion for scouring the antique markets on weekends for that unusual find - - the thrill of the hunt! Along the way I realized that I wanted to spend more and more time re-purposing my finds and expressing my inner desire to be creative.
By early 2006 I had accumulated well over two storage units full of furniture and home accessories from my antique explorations. Not to mention that we could no longer park our 2 cars in the garage because this too was overflowing with my finds.
Having spent over 20 years in the advertising business and no longer being challenged by my job I decided to incorporate my passion for vintage inspired furnishings into my everyday life by establishing Vintage Nest. Vintage Nest gives me the opportunity to share my passion with others who enjoy decorating their homes with elegant, time-worn pieces.
A mother of two small children with a growing volunteer schedule I knew Vintage Nest would have to satisfy my need to explore my dream as well as maintain a balanced home life.
In the beginningVintage Nest only opened its doors to the public one weekend per month.Customers were notified by postcard of upcoming sales as well as email announcements.  In September 2011 Vintage Nest moved to The Glen Town Center and is now open 7 days a week.
